Position:

Database Administrator

(GIS-Group Infrastructure Services)
(Kuala Lumpur)

Responsibilities:

• The Database Administrator is responsible to provide technical support for databases, including installation, testing and implementation of the database and related tools.
• Ensures maximum system availability and smooth operations of production databases.
• Provide efficient and effective database support through administration, resolution, performance tuning, capacity planning.
• Recommend improvement to database administration guideline and procedure so as to provide database services at satisfactory level of performance and security.

Requirements:

• Candidate must possess at least a Bachelor's Degree or Professional Degree in Computer Science/Information Technology or equivalent (CGPA at least 3.00).
• Possess at least 2 years extensive hands-on experience in similar Data Center Operations.
• Exposure to Service Management and related fields in IT.
• Knowledge of information security is preferable.
• Knowledge of various database technologies, distributed transaction, multi-tier architecture and disaster recovery concepts.
• Ability to make decisions and commit to a course action, after examining all viable alternatives, within established frames.
• Experience on multi RDBMS software i.e. Oracle, SQL Server, Sybase and Universe but especially strong in DB2.
• Self-starter with good analytical, problem solving and organizational skills.
• Willing to be on standby and to respond to any calls-24 hours while on duty.
